Nelson Mandela Award for Minority Empowerment.

This Award in the field of advocacy for minority causes is an honor given to individuals and organizations in recognition of outstanding achievements in promotion of minority affairs. The Award is established by International Foundation for Minority Empowerment and Global Friendship and will be given away at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on Saturday 5th September 2009 at 2PM.


 

It commemorates the sacrifices of Mr. Nelson Mandela who suffered jail and various forms of repression to champion the causes of his people .The award also records his great strength in forgiving and reconciliation in an effort to unite the country.

The Award honors the outstanding accomplishments of individuals from minority communities that over the years have demonstrated generous dedication, outreach and exceptional will to support minority empowerment issues.

The Award acknowledges the personal achievements of the recipient and sends an encouraging message to the defenders of minority causes all over the world that the international community is grateful, and supports their tireless efforts to promote minority affairs.
